Why might a Rochester cosmetic dentist recommend dental crowns to a patient?

Maintaining a healthy and beautiful smile is important to most patients. Dr. John L. Aurelia is a Rochester dentist that focuses on both cosmetic and family dentistry, and will do his best to ensure that his patients enjoy all the benefits an attractive smile can provide.

When it comes to cosmetic procedures and treatments, his practice provides a wide variety that can help improve the health and beauty of a patient’s smile. Whether patients are interested in a simple teeth whitening procedure or need restorative treatments such as dental bridges or dental crowns, Rochester residents can get the care they need with Dr. Aurelia.

A very common restorative treatment at his practice is that of dental crowns. Patients may need dental crowns in several situations. Why might a dentist recommend dental crowns to a patient? Dental crowns are used for one of the three purposes: to protect and strengthen a tooth, to cover and change the appearance of a tooth, or to restore a dental implant.

Dental crowns are made of porcelain, and when bonded to a broken, chipped, or weakened tooth, they can provide extra strength and protection. Teeth that have been treated with root canal therapy, or have been damaged, will benefit from a dental crown to protect them from further problems. Second, although porcelain veneers are used on teeth near the front of the mouth to change the appearance, dental crowns are used on teeth in the rear of the mouth. They have the strength to withstand chewing pressure. Third, dental crowns are used to finish a dental implant. An abutment is placed over the dental implant, and a full dental crown is put in place to act as a false tooth.

If a patient requires a dental crown, the professional team at Dr. John L. Aurelia will be able to help. A consultation and thorough examination is all a patient needs to find out if they can benefit from dental crowns or other restorations available at this practice.

I can't believe there are not more reviews for this office! I don't even know where to begin! For starters, they deserve more than 5 stars. I fly in from California every Christmas to see my family and always make sure to get into this dentist office. The entire staff is phenomenal! They really make you feel like family and actually care about their patients here. It's so important to be able trust your dentist. This dentist's office is so gentle and there work is beyond amazing. Thank you so much for always getting me in on such short notice and with limited days each and every holiday visit! It's not exciting going to dental appointments, but somehow you all make it the best possible experience it can possible be. Looking forward to seeing you all again at the end of the year!
