For the John L. Aurelia, DDS, PLLC team, nothing beats restoring oral health to patients of all ages. A healthier family is a happier family.
The word “braces”is still commonly associated with children. Perhaps you remember childhood friends wearing metal brackets and wires.
It’s time to change your perception.
It’s estimated as many as three-quarters of the population has some degree of malocclusion or misalignment.
Teeth may be moved into proper alignment due to:
While the American Association of Orthodontists reports up to half of U.S. kids are being treated with some type of orthodontic care, it is certainly never too late to improve your smile.
You may find it’s easier to eat with straighter teeth. You may be less self-conscious about how you look, even how you pronounce certain words. Straighter teeth are also easier to clean.
As if those aren’t enough reasons to correct teeth and bite problems now, today’s braces are clear and removable. You don’t have to worry about “brace face,”or have to contend with the discomfort and hassle of eating and cleaning within the confines of a system of brackets and wires.
John L. Aurelia, DDS, PLLC can determine if an orthodontic problem is developing as soon as there are enough permanent teeth to identify existing or potential concerns. Some problems may be easier to correct if found early, and some outcomes may be achieved if addressed as the face and jaws grow.
The Invisalign option is for patients as young as teens with permanent teeth. In other words, most teens would qualify.
You are never too old to improve the form and function of your smile. In fact, adults represent one of every five orthodontic patients. Healthy teeth can be moved at any age.
John L. Aurelia, DDS, PLLC will assess the state of your teeth, jaws, and mouth before determining if Invisalign is a good option. Problems such as gum disease must be treated first. Any destructive activity associated with gingivitis or more advanced periodontitis can be accelerated with orthodontic movement of any kind, be it Invisalign or conventional braces.
As the technology has advanced, complex conditions may now be treated with Invisalign. If this is a good option, you may be surprised by the ease of the process. A digital 3-Dimensional image of your mouth is generated, and you can view the look of your teeth through every stage of treatment in advance. This 3-D modeling guides treatment.
You will receive a series of custom aligners corresponding with your treatment plan. Teeth will continue to be moved into place with each stage of treatment. This progression only requires dental visits every six weeks or so to make sure everything is going according to plan. There is no need to take a lot of extra time out of your busy work or school schedule, as you might with conventional orthodontic treatments.
